Thoughts on the Packout Cooler? Suggestions for Improvements?

Hey everyone! I recently took my 40 QT XL Packout cooler to the beach, and while I absolutely love it, I noticed a couple of things that could really enhance the experience. First off, I think it's essential for this cooler to have wheels and a handle – similar to the rolling drawer base. It would be great if they offered it both ways since not everyone might want that feature. I'd definitely purchase one with wheels and a handle in a heartbeat!

Secondly, I wonder if someone with 3D printing skills could design some wheels specifically for dragging it through sand, or even a sled-like bottom. Anything to make those beach days a bit easier would be awesome. Thanks for hearing me out!

I totally get what you mean! I typically use my cooler stacked with a rolling toolbox for the beach. I pack all my towels and other beach stuff in there, and then top it off with a Packout radio and fan. It works really well!

Same here! It works like a champ for my trips.

That's what I did last year too! It was great! But I sold my rolling toolbox, and now I just have a single drawer... really regretting that move when I'm dragging it through the sand!

I doubt 3D printing wheels would be cost-effective for that size, but I did something similar with a regular cooler. I picked up some $10 wheels from Harbor Freight and made a dolly cart to attach them. It’s easier with Packout cleats because they're smaller!

You can actually buy these balloon wheels made for sand and put them on a rolling Packout bottom. It's been on my list, but it sounds like a solid beach combo with the cooler, bottom, and crate top!

Not ideal for sand, but I heard they make a Packout dolly that could help.

I just used mine again, and I noticed the lid has warped a bit. Not sure if it was from using it or just sitting out to dry, but now it doesn't shut completely. Guess I need to check if I can still return it!
