What’s the Best Way to Fix a Broken Glass Table Top?

I recently broke a large piece of glass during transport for my table. It has a clean break, and I really don't want to have it cut down, so I was thinking about using Gorilla Epoxy Crystal Clear with some clamps to hold it together. Is this a good idea, or should I just give up on the repair?

It's tough to get glass to bond effectively. The adhesive really just won't hold under flexing, and glass isn't porous, so mechanical bonds are weak. You might want to look into specialized products, like UV cure cyanoacrylate for optical glass. That could work better for your situation, but be prepared that it might not last long. You might end up needing a new piece anyway.

Exactly! And if you did find some miracle product, just remember it might not hold up forever. Sometimes, it's just easier to replace.

I'd recommend against trying to fix it. Given that it's used for a table, and likely made from tempered glass, the repair probably won't hold up. When you apply pressure, like when items are on the table, the crack will probably just reopen.

Yeah, I agree. Plus, if you do attempt to fix it, you'd probably still see the crack, which could be annoying depending on the angle and light.
