I'm thinking about replacing 22 windows in my home and I'm torn between vinyl and fiberglass options. The quotes I'm getting are about $30,000 for vinyl and $50,000+ for fiberglass. My house gets a lot of sun on the south side with no trees blocking it, and we live in a hot, humid 2-A climate in Texas. I'm worried about the potential for vinyl to warp in this heat. Has anyone recently installed vinyl windows? How have they held up? Also, are there any specific brands you would recommend?

There's definitely more than just the vinyl vs. fiberglass debate. From my experience, vinyl windows vary widely in quality and features, so you really need to compare them apples to apples. For instance, if you’re considering casement windows, check if they open for easy cleaning. I've installed both types, and I found fiberglass a bit easier because they hold up their own weight better. But I do like the mold-in nailing fin of vinyl that makes sealing easier. Ultimately, for the price difference, the quality fiberglass windows had a more polished look compared to vinyl's often plastic-like appearance. But climate can definitely impact your choice, so I'm curious how others feel about vinyl in hot areas!

Thanks for the insight! I’d love to know more about the quality of VistaMark windows as well.
