I'm looking to buy an SDS drill for some tasks at my small to medium-sized business. I need to drill a few holes into basement walls and a concrete floor, and I'm trying to figure out whether to go for the SDS Max or stick with the SDS Plus. My work won't be too heavy—just one or two holes at a time, and I want to keep it efficient since I don't want to overspend. I would prefer to get two-inch holes, but realistically, I can manage with a couple of smaller ones due to multiple network cables. Since renting isn't too much cheaper, it seems wiser to invest in buying. Do I really need the Max, or can the Plus handle the job? Thanks in advance!

I've been using my SDS Plus with a Forge battery to drill holes and break up concrete, and it's been fantastic! It handles everything I throw at it without any issues. You might want to consider how much effort you'd want to put into using the Max—if it's light work, the Plus is definitely the way to go!
The SDS Plus should work perfectly for your needs! You can definitely drill 2-inch holes with it using the right hole saws. There are affordable SDS hole saw kits available online for around $30 that come with several sizes. While it might take a little longer compared to the SDS Max, it’ll get the job done without any hassles. I've even successfully drilled a 3-inch hole with my 1-inch rated SDS Plus—just take breaks to let it cool down!
Yea that's doable! Thanks for that info.
Just a heads up, it's not rated for 1-inch drilling. The 1-inch simply refers to the hammer stroke length.

Nice! Thank you for that. I think the Plus is fine, and idk if I want to wrestle with the Max anyways.
