Is Hiring a Social Media Manager for My Furniture Business Worth It?

I'm swamped with my furniture restoration business and feel like I'm dedicating all my extra time to managing my social media. I'm curious: has anyone here hired a social media manager? Are they really worth the investment? What kind of prices should I expect, and how do I find someone reliable? (By the way, I'm located in the UK!)

Honestly, if you haven't already, you might want to consider hiring admin help instead of a full-blown social media manager. Having someone to juggle your social media alongside other tasks like inquiries and billing could free you up more to focus on the work you love. The advice I got from working with small businesses was: get admin support ASAP to maintain your passion for your craft.

I've been in a similar boat with my design firm, and here's my take: outsourcing your social media can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, a good manager can help grow your presence, but you can't just hand it all over and forget about it. You'll still need to engage and keep an eye on things because no one understands your brand as well as you do. Plus, increased social media activity might lead to more inquiries that can take up even more of your time if you're not prepared for it. Just make sure you're ready to handle the additional interactions that come with it, as they can easily become a big commitment.

Totally agree! It's essential to stay in the loop with your audience and not let the social media side take over your business.

From my experience, if you're already content with how things are going on social media, you might not need to bring in a pro yet. If you have a family member or someone you can trust, just show them your current process and let them take over. Professionals are great when you need a complete overhaul or feel like your efforts aren’t yielding results. If you're thinking about hiring out, keep in mind that costs can really vary. I know some charge anywhere from around £400 to £1,800 per month depending on the level of service you choose!

That's super helpful info, thanks! I'm leaning towards finding someone who understands the UK market—do you have any tips on where to find good candidates?
