Did I Replace My Window Well Rocks Correctly?

I recently updated the rocks in one of my window wells by digging out the old stuff, which included dirt and debris about a foot deep. I laid down landscaping fabric to keep weeds at bay, then added two bags of pea pebbles on top, followed by another layer of fabric and a bag of marble chips. My concern is whether the pea pebbles will let enough water through, especially since we just had 7 inches of rain, and I ended up with some water in my basement. Water was coming in through the basement windows, which I plan to cover after cleaning them out. I've included a link to the pea pebbles I bought from Home Depot for reference.

Honestly, the rocks might not be your main issue. Many times, the fabric used can cause more problems than it solves. If you haven't had issues before, it might just be a case of the recent heavy rain overwhelming everything. I'd keep an eye on it for now.

Any tips on what to use instead of fabric that still keeps the weeds down? That's why I put it there in the first place.

Yeah, I put the fabric down to fight weeds as well, but I'm worried the rain's just too much for it.

Those pea pebbles are a bit too small for proper drainage. Ideally, you should be using stones that are 3 to 4 inches. If you don't already have a drain system connected, consider digging deeper and going for larger stones to help with the water flow. And honestly, you might not need that fabric at all.

Ugh, do I really have to dig all that back up? I'm dreading it!
