Hey everyone! I'm looking to bring some life into my space but I'm new to indoor plants and could use some guidance. I want to decorate my area with plants that are forgiving, especially since I don't have much experience with plant care. I live in Northern California, where it can be dry, and my space usually doesn't get much sunlight. The temperature is pretty cool, usually around 70 degrees, but can range from 65 to 74 at times. I'm okay with watering and can keep an eye on things since I'm home most of the time. What are some good plant options for a beginner in my situation? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you're starting out, I definitely recommend ZZ plants – they hardly need any watering at all! Cacti are also super low-maintenance and thrive on neglect. But don't overlook Pothos; these beauties do well in low light and are really forgiving. I have a Monstera, and I just water it when I water my Pothos, which is about once a week. I’ve moved all these plants around a lot, and they’ve survived it all without a hitch!

Do any of these need special lighting, like UV or heat lamps? I’m worried because I can’t provide much sunlight and my pets might mess with them.
