Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a great time with your plants! I'm planning to go out of town for two weeks next month and I want to talk about self-watering planters. In the past, I've had some bad experiences with friends looking after my plants while I've been away—either they didn't water enough or they overwatered, leading to some sad losses, including a few pricey and rare plants.
A friend suggested self-watering planters, but I've never tried them before. I'm really curious to hear your thoughts and experiences with them. Would it be okay if I repotted my plants into self-watering planters before I leave for two weeks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you considered watering spikes? In my experience, repotting plants right before a trip can stress them out more than two weeks without water. I usually water my plants every 7-10 days, so if yours are similar, they might be fine for a short period.
Self-watering planters can be a game changer! Just make sure to let them dry out a little before you refill the water, depending on your plants' needs. If you’re heading out for over a week and don’t have a plant sitter, I’d say go for it—especially for those plants that need more frequent watering. They could really help keep your plants healthy while you're away.
You don't actually need to repot your plants into self-watering pots. There are plenty of wicking methods that can help keep them hydrated while you're away. Look up some videos on how to properly care for plants during vacations. It's also a good idea to test out whichever method you choose before you leave, so you know it works!
