What Accessories Are Essential for My New Tool Setup?

Asked By ToolTimeTraveler88 On

Hey everyone! I'm diving back into construction and just made a big investment in a bunch of tools, totaling around $5,500 after various deals and credits. I'll be using these tools for both work projects and DIY stuff at home. I'm looking for your recommendations on must-have accessories that go along with my new setup, including socket sets, bits, drivers, blades, and any storage solutions like boxes or bags. Since I'm buying everything at once, I want to make sure I don't forget anything important. I appreciate any suggestions for essentials or even those not-so-obvious items!

Definitely consider picking up some Sawzall blades, holesaws, spade bits, and impact bit sets. Don’t forget multi-tool blades as well! And some safety gear like glasses, hearing protection, and a face shield for using the grinder would be smart. Just a heads-up, if you plan on using the hammer drill for concrete, it's not the best; I recommend using a proper hammer drill for that.

Totally agree! I use the M18 SDS for concrete work myself. The hammer function does help a little with smaller masonry jobs, but I think getting the right tool is key.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I’ve noticed the hammer drill doesn’t perform great. But it was part of that combo kit and the discount was hard to pass up.

Make sure to get some Packouts and their accessories for organization! Those can really help keep everything tidy, and trust me, you might end up spending another 2-3k there. Being organized makes a project so much easier.

Haha, so basically all the stuff I need to keep everything organized! I've been meaning to figure out how to get all this up on my wall.

Yeah, being organized is underrated. The right storage solutions can save you tons of time on site!

When it comes to batteries, I usually don’t rely on the 5.0 ones since they don’t last as long in practice. But right now, if you buy two, you can get a free tool, so check that out! Also, the M12 tools are really handy and lighter for residential projects; you might want to look into those too. I’m saving up for another M12 set for my cabinets, makes things so much easier!

Yeah, a good battery supply can save a lot of hassle. I often switch batteries from tool to tool.

Good strategy! I always grab batteries when they're on sale. Can't stand running out in the middle of a project!
