Can a Portable Generator and Solar Panels Really Cut My Electric Bill?

I'm considering investing in a portable generator along with portable solar panels to help reduce my electric bill. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, how do I determine what size system I need to get started?

It really boils down to whether the money you spend on the system will be less than what you'd normally pay for electricity. You might want to explore third-party power stations or do a combination of a battery, inverter, and solar panels with a charge controller to maximize efficiency.

Thank you. That’s a start. ?

In my case, electricity costs about $0.20 per km. If I spend around $600 on a 1kW solar generator and a 220W panel, I might save 1 kWh per day, adding up to only $6 a month. It would take about 100 months (or 8 years) to break even. If your main goal is just to save money, you might reconsider. But if it’s for emergencies or just a cool project, go for it!
