Can I Mix Different Sized Lithium Batteries in My Campervan?

I recently upgraded my campervan setup with a 300ah LifePO4 battery, moving away from AGMs. I'm curious if I can add other batteries in the future—specifically, do I need to get another 300ah battery, or can I just use individual 100ah batteries along with it? I've come across conflicting info about potential balancing issues, so I'm hoping to get some clarity on the best approach here.

From my experience, I’ve got a 200ah battery paired with a 100ah battery, and it’s been working without any problems. Just remember, it's better to keep them in parallel rather than series, but parallel configurations should be just fine.

Totally agree! As long as they’re from the same battery family and use compatible BMS systems, paralleling different sizes will work well.

Yeah, paralleling different capacities like a 300ah with a 100ah can be okay, but be mindful. The bigger battery won't pull its full capacity equal to the smaller one under load, especially if you're drawing a lot of current for extended periods. Keeping them matched is always the safest route, but mixing can work if done right.
