What Can I Plant in My Garden in Early July?

I'm currently living in US Zone 7b, where the first frost usually hits around mid-November. Unfortunately, I couldn't start planting anything earlier this year, but now it's early July and I'm eager to grow something in my narrow garden bed, which is only about 7 inches deep. What are my options for planting right now?

Definitely go for cucumbers! I'm actually on my third round of planting this year. Just make sure to check the seed packets for the right varieties; full-sized ones should be fine, but you might also want to try dwarf or mini types since they can do well in smaller spaces. Happy gardening!

Thanks! Any specific breed you recommend, or just stick with the usual? I'm curious if the dwarf kinds do better.

You can still plant cucumbers and bush beans this late in the season. Both grow pretty quickly, and they should thrive in your garden bed! Also, consider starting some lettuce and other cool-weather greens in August. There's still time for some good crops before frost hits!
