Are MKE M18 Dual Bevel Miter Saws Still Having Issues?

I've been looking into the 10" Milwaukee MKE M18 dual bevel miter saws and wondered if they still have the factory issues I've read about. Most of the info I've found is pretty outdated. I'm also considering the DeWalt 779 12" dual bevel slider while there's a sale on, plus a free stand deal. I have a couple of 8.0xc batteries already. My first project will be building a picnic table that requires cuts on pressure treated lumber 2x6s with beveled edges and miters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had the Milwaukee dual bevel saw and found it just okay. I ended up selling it and picked up a corded Bosch, which I'm much happier with. For a picnic table, honestly, you might knock out those cuts faster with a circular saw and a square instead of the miter saw, especially since you’re just starting out. If you want something really reliable, the DeWalt or even the larger Bosch are great options. Just keep in mind that miter saws can be a hassle to move around.

Good point! I might look into getting a portable stand like the Rigid for outdoor cuts since my garage isn't really set up like a workshop. I've got my dad's old circular saw for now, so that could help for the initial projects.

If I were you, I’d go for the DeWalt. The Milwaukee saws have had some inconsistencies, and the DeWalt is a solid choice, especially for the kind of project you’re starting. Plus, with those deals on stands, it makes it even more tempting!

Totally get that—it's tough to switch brands when you've got a loyalty! But the DeWalt might save you some headaches down the road.
