Do Plant-Watering Apps Actually Help?

Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for a good app to help me track when to water my plants. I've tried out a few, but they tend to feel either too clunky or just overcomplicated for my needs. I'm curious if anyone out there actually uses a plant-watering app that they find useful, or are most of you just going with your gut?

I’d say using an app might not be the best approach. How often you should water really depends on factors like soil type, light, and humidity. It’s good to look up the specific needs for your plants and go from there. Some plants even show physical signs when they're thirsty, like succulents becoming wrinkly or droopy. Most experts suggest waiting until the top 2 inches of soil are dry before watering!

I get that, but apps do provide a good starting point for newbies! They help us figure out when to check.

Exactly! It's not like the apps are foolproof, but they can help people who might not have experience with plants.

I actually keep track of my plants using Notion! It works really well for me since I prefer a customizable approach over pre-set apps.

I tried using Planta when I had only a few plants, but now that I have 50, it's just not practical. I water them based on how they look now; I like having them in my face to remind me when they need care! Sometimes the app's suggestions are off, and entering information takes too much time when you've got that many plants to deal with.

I've been using Planta to keep an eye on my plants, and honestly, I treat its watering schedule more like suggestions. It helps me remember to occasionally check on my plants, especially if I'm neglecting a few. If it thinks a plant needs water but the soil feels too wet, I'll just snooze that reminder. It's not perfect but it's been working for me.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat! I love how Planta helps me keep track without overwhelming me.

I also find Planta pretty useful! Seriously, I think some people just don't understand how helpful it can be for those of us who sometimes struggle with keeping plants alive.

Honestly, I don’t think any apps actually work. They usually just follow a schedule that can lead to overwatering. I track my plants using Google Sheets and a moisture meter instead.

I've been using Planta for 2 years, and it’s been pretty solid. I've only lost plants when I ignored the schedule.
