I'm trying to figure out the best method to splice together a 3/4" MDF board. I need to attach a 1-foot piece to a 6-foot piece for my workbench top. Should I use dowels and glue with clamps, or would pocket hole screws and glue be a better option? Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, I'd say it's not worth it. Glue can create swelling due to moisture, and mechanical fasteners won't give you a strong hold in MDF. If you're looking for something structurally sound, you might want to consider a different approach.

Yeah, you can splice MDF, but don't expect it to hold up under pressure if you just rely on glue. Dowels could work, but just keep in mind that MDF doesn't really hold fasteners well, so it's more for underlayment than anything structural.
