When Can I Ride My Bike on Newly Paved Asphalt Driveway?

I just had my driveway repaved with asphalt this morning while I was sleeping. The workers are gone now, and I have some errands to run by bicycle. How long should I wait before riding on it?

You can usually walk on asphalt pretty much right away, so why not just walk your bike over it for a bit? It gives the surface a little more time to set without you putting pressure on it.

Since it's asphalt, you should ideally wait about 24 hours before parking a vehicle on it, but for riding your bike, you might be okay after around 4-6 hours. Just keep in mind it can depend on how it was mixed. If you really need to head out soon, maybe go for it, but tread carefully!

What about walking my bike over it? Would that be better?
