Hey everyone! I'm just starting out in woodworking and I'm looking for some small quantities of lumber and plywood for my beginner projects. I've heard that lumber yards are usually better than the big box stores like Home Depot. Does anyone know of any quality lumber yards around the Lapeer area in Southeast Michigan?

You should definitely take a road trip west to Charlotte and check out Johnson’s Workbench/Lumber. They have a great selection and the folks there are super nice!
Sounds like a fun trip! I had to look up where Charlotte is, but I’m definitely considering it.
Don’t forget about Marketplace and Craigslist! You can often find small sawyers there. Woodfinder.com is another great site to check out along with regular Google searches.
If you're not opposed to online resources, I've had luck using Google. Also, I’ve heard good things about Regentin; they seem to have some nice options! Here are their links to check out: [Regentin Sawmill](https://www.facebook.com/p/Regentin-sawmill-100063908391067/) and [Pollum's Natural Resources](http://www.pollumsnaturalresources.com/).

Absolutely agree! I’m lucky enough to live near their other location and it’s fantastic.
