Should I Move My Flowering Melon Vine?

I originally planted my veggies and only one melon plant survived the hardening stage. It was pretty small, so I put it in the same planter as my tomatillos. Now that it's grown quite a bit, I'm worried that it needs more space. I have two empty planters ready for the weekend, but here's my dilemma: the vine is currently flowering. Should I risk moving it for more room or leave it be to avoid disrupting its growth? I'm pretty torn about this.

It's generally not a good idea to transplant melon plants, especially when they’re flowering and have grown to a decent size. Melon vines and other cucurbits are quite sensitive to root disturbance and usually don't respond well to being moved. Since you still have time left in your growing season, you might consider directly sowing seeds for more melons in a different pot. It won’t be a quick harvest, but it's likely to work out better than trying to transplant your mature plant.

That’s what I figured! I could always trellis the vine to save space upwards, but I’m just worried about the roots. Thanks for your advice!
