I'm redoing some siding on my house, specifically about 4-5 rows because they've become aged and weathered. When pulling off the siding, I found some aluminum flashing underneath the bottom two rows of shingles. My plan now is to install some house wrap from Lowe's and then re-shingle the wall. Should I just overlap the existing aluminum flashing with the new wrap or should I completely remove it and use the house wrap all the way down to the ledge? I attempted to share a picture of the flashing, but I'll include that link in a follow-up post.

I'd suggest leaving the aluminum flashing in place and just going over it with the Tyvek. It can help create a better moisture barrier, and since it’s already there, it’s less work for you! Just make sure everything is sealed properly before you shingle over it.

Should I overlap it or go completely over it?
