Hey everyone! My partner and I recently bought a house in Kentucky, and we're excited to add some greenery to our yard. There's a nice established Tulip tree on one side of our front path, and I'm considering planting a native Red Mulberry sapling on the other side to create a nice balance. I know I need to call local utility services first to ensure I'm not messing with any pipes or wires, but since I have very little experience with gardening and trees, I wanted to ask for any tips or warnings before I dive in. Ideally, I'm looking for a tree that attracts birds since I don't plan to harvest the fruit too seriously—just want to enjoy watching the birds! Am I missing anything important, or is there anything I should be cautious about?

Red mulberry trees are a great choice, but keep a couple of things in mind. First off, birds will definitely love the fruit—you might end up with purple droppings everywhere! Plus, mulberries are understory trees, which means they might take some time to adjust to full sun. Also, birds love to scatter seeds, so you might find mulberries popping up all over your yard. If you’re okay with that, then I say go for it!

Haha, I can relate! I remember my grandparents had a mulberry tree, and you’re right about the bird droppings. But hey, I’m genuinely more interested in attracting birds than worrying about a bit of mess! So, I'm looking for the best care tips for my new lil sapling. Any advice on that?
