Help Finding Male US Plug Blades for My Smart Plug Design

Asked By TechWhiz87 On

I'm working on creating a smart plug and I'm struggling to find where I can buy just the male US plug blades. Ideally, I'd like to find a part number or a link to a supplier that offers these blades, especially something I can have assembled through a service like JLCPCB. Any suggestions?

Just a heads up, if you're planning to sell your smart plug, make sure you get it certified by someone like UL. It can be a complicated and expensive route if you’ve never done it before. You'll also need insurance, which is critical. Without it, if something goes wrong, you could be facing some serious legal issues. Just a word of caution before you dive in!

Hey! A quick search led me to a datasheet for NEMA 1-15 plug blades from Heyco. You can check it out [here](https://www.heyco.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/PCB-Contacts.pdf). They are solderable, but make sure to hand solder them to get the alignment just right!

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I don’t know why it was so hard for me to track these down. Looks like they usually sell in bulk, but I can find another way to get them.
