I've got this gorgeous blueberry bush that has been infested with aphids for a couple of years now. Last year it also caught mealy bugs, and I need to tackle this issue before it starts blooming again. What effective methods can I use to get rid of these pests?

Make sure your plant is healthy, as mealy bugs often target stressed plants. You could do a foliage spray using liquid seaweed mixed with a crushed aspirin tablet — it might seem odd, but I've learned this can be quite effective. Applying it weekly should help even if you miss a week every now and then.
I've had success using neem oil and diatomaceous earth for pests. Neem oil actually disrupts insect growth and is safe to use, while diatomaceous earth works by dehydrating any bugs that come into contact with it. Just remember, it's not a one-time solution; you'll need to reapply every 6 to 8 weeks. Good luck getting those pests under control!
A more unconventional approach I've tried is covering the bush with a tarp and burning a bit of tobacco underneath. It sounds wild, but it's something I did while growing marijuana outdoors. Just a thought if you're feeling adventurous!
I spray my plants with a mixture of water and tobacco to help with mealy bugs, and it seems to work pretty well!
Neem oil is a great choice for treating these pests. Also, consider introducing ladybugs or wasps; they can help keep the aphid population down in the future.
