Can I Use a Portable Solar Power Station for Appliances in My Shed?

Hey folks! I'm pretty new to DIY stuff and just becoming a homeowner, so I've got a question. I'm planning to set up a solar-powered portable power station in my garden shed to help charge tools while I'm working outside. I was thinking about getting something like an Anker or DJI 1000kWh station and some solar panels to mount on the roof since my garden gets good sunlight.

Now, I'm curious if it's feasible to use a power station like the DJI 1000 for small appliances, particularly a chest freezer. I've read that such freezers typically draw about 0.5kWh per day, which should theoretically give me a couple of days' power from a fully charged DJI 1000, plus I can recharge it during sunny hours.

Does anyone here have experience with similar setups? What should I keep in mind or avoid while trying this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Great idea, but you might want to look into a few things. First off, remember that even the inverter of the power station will use some power itself, usually around 15-20 watts for a typical 1800w inverter. This might complicate running a freezer easily.

Also, I noticed that the DJI setup uses a separate MPPT module for solar input, so costs might add up if you don't choose the right panels. Just make sure the solar panels you buy can connect properly to the station.

If your plan is to keep the setup portable for emergencies or camping, a power station like the DJI is a good choice for convenience, despite a DIY setup possibly being cheaper for fixed loads.

Thanks for the tips! I'm leaning towards the power station mainly for the ease of use and portability. I want to minimize any mistakes I might make with wiring and things.

Regarding solar panels, I’m considering an Anker 100W panel that comes with the C1000, but I might look into third-party options if they offer better value.
