M12 Surge vs. New Subcompact: Which One Should I Choose?

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I'm currently out of state for plumbing work and I just realized I left my impact driver (the 3453 model) back home. I need to buy a new one, but I'm looking to switch it up a bit. My main tasks will be strapping down water lines in ceilings and occasionally drilling 1/2" holes in 2x4's. Between the M12 Surge and the new subcompact, which one do you think would be the better choice? I've heard the Surge might be on the heavier side, but I'm not entirely sure. Any insights would be appreciated!

If I were you, I’d consider the new subcompact instead of the Surge. There are some good alternatives out there, like the install driver, or even the 2401 screwdriver could do the trick. It just depends on what fits your needs better, but there are definitely options that might suit you more!

The Surge is a solid choice if you're looking for something that's quiet and effective. I've seen it available for under $100 with some good deals. If you're considering value, the M12 combo kit for about $132 might also be a great option even if you already have an impact driver. Just saying, it could be worth the investment!

Honestly, I’d lean towards the Surge. I’ve read a lot about both options and while they say both can feel a bit underpowered, the Surge offers a quieter experience which can be a plus in certain situations. Just keep in mind, it might not pack the punch you're used to!
