How Can I Design a Custom PCB for an ESP32?

Asked By CraftyCoder42 On

I'm looking to create a custom printed circuit board (PCB) for an ESP32 that will allow me to receive real-time data over Wi-Fi. I'm aiming for a really compact design since I don't want to use a shielding case for the ESP32. Any advice on where to start or services to use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Before diving into design, consider what your PCB needs to do. Depending on your requirements, there are pre-made ESP32 boards available that might fit your needs without the hassle of custom PCB design.

You might want to check out EasyEDA and JLCPCB. They're great for getting PCBs made, and they even offer assembly services. It's often cheaper than doing it yourself at home, and they can make the process a lot easier for you. Just keep in mind that if you go for full assembly, shipping costs might hike up a bit.

Also, look for breakout reference files for the ESP32, which can save you a ton of design work!

Just a heads-up, think about your budget too! Having a custom PCB made can vary in cost, depending on how complex your layout is and whether you choose to have it assembled or do it yourself.

Haha, my funding is pretty personal! Just trying to keep costs down.
