Need Help Fixing Bathroom Sink Tile and Wood Trim

Hi everyone! Our bathroom is getting up there in age—about 20 years—and it's not been cared for as well as it could be. I noticed that the material between the sink tile and the wood trim has deteriorated. It doesn't look rotten, but it's more like a tough powdery substance. Here's a picture for reference: https://ibb.co/6R9fxGQY. I'm looking for some advice on how to fix this. Should I go ahead and use silicone caulk to patch it up? Any tips would be appreciated!

It sounds like the grout has come loose. You could either regrout the area or just remove the grout and caulk it instead. While you’re at it, you might as well recaulk around the sink too—it’ll give everything a fresher look!

Thanks for the tip! If I just clean up that one tile and caulk it without touching the others, will that look okay? I know it won’t be perfect, but will the caulk and grout work against each other?

Yeah, grout is a bit trickier to deal with in DIY projects!
