I had a little mishap with my car, and now the corner of my garage is looking a bit rough. I'm looking for suggestions to cover up the damage to the siding using a potted tree or plant. It's important that whatever I choose is permanently potted since there isn't any dirt to plant in. I need a plant that's full at the base to hide the damage, but it also needs to be relatively thin overall so that it doesn't obstruct the path around the garage. I was considering an emerald green arborvitae, but I'm worried about whether it will survive the winters here in central Indiana. Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Also, emerald greens can be really prone to bagworms, which could quickly ruin them. You might want to look into an evergreen clematis like armandii or montana instead; they could be a better alternative.
You really should consider fixing your siding instead. Hiding it with a tree might work temporarily, but it could hurt your home’s value in the long run. Plus, you might need to disclose any damages when selling.
You might want to think about adding a trellis with a vining plant in the pot. The trellis will help hide the damage no matter what stage the vine is in, plus it allows for some seasonal variety. Just make sure you pick a vine that thrives in pots and is suited to the light conditions at that spot! Personally, I don't think arborvitae would do well in a pot either. A cool native choice could be maypop (purple passionflower). It can spread a bit aggressively if it gets out of its pot, but it should do fine there. Just remember, anything in a pot will need regular watering!
Honestly, a good faux tree might be your best bet here. No hassle with care or worrying about it getting through the winter!

Great idea imo!
