Hey everyone! I'm looking to repurpose some old fir studs I have lying around for a project to build an outdoor patio table. I have a couple of questions about this: 1) Is there any reason why I shouldn't use these studs for my project? 2) If I go ahead with it, what's the safest method to resaw them with my table saw? Thanks in advance for your input!

I've used 2x6 studs a bunch of times for projects. I recommend leaving about a 1/4 inch of material after your second cut to finish off cleanly with a hand saw or a band saw. Just a heads-up though, newer lumber tends to warp when resawn, so you might end up with pieces that aren't very useful. It could be a bit tricky, but definitely doable!
I usually finish off the last bit with a pull saw. For softwoods like fir, resawing works great, especially if you don’t have a bandsaw!
