Best Lubricants for Plastic Drawer Slides?

Asked By CraftyPenguin42 On

I need some advice on what lubricant to use for my drawer slides that won't damage any plastic components. My kitchen sink flooded and soaked the cabinet with drawers next to it, so I'm looking for something effective yet safe for the materials. Any suggestions?

You might want to try PTFE or silicone-based lubricants. Just be careful with WD-40; it can work in small amounts, but it’s not really a lubricant!

It really depends on the type of drawer slides you have. If you can post a photo of them, that would help narrow down the best solution! Different materials might need different kinds of lubrication.

You can check out some spray lubricants labeled as 'slick' products at your local hardware store. If you can take the drawers out, rubbing some candle or paraffin wax on the slides can work wonders too. You'll usually find these kinds of wax in the grocery store's canning section.
