I recently removed an extra exterior door that separated my foyer from the living room, and I'm left with a gap between the tile and hardwood floors. I'm the second owner of the house, so I don't have any leftover flooring to use for a transition piece. I checked out Lowe's, but the widest transitions they have are only about 2 inches wide. I need something around 5 inches wide that can taper down. The tile is about half an inch lower than the hardwood. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I usually just make my own transitions when I’m replacing floors. It's pretty straightforward, and that way you can customize the size exactly to what you need!

I’m pretty handy and have a ton of tools, but I’ve never done this before. Do you have a link to a YouTube video or some basic instructions? I’m stuck on how to create the slope, making it 3/4" on the wood side and 1/4" on the tile side. Is that doable, or should I router the lower edge to avoid a lip?
