I'm diving into my first DIY project which involves laying laminated wood flooring and some home renovations. I've seen tons of videos and read various opinions, but I'm still unsure about the best miter saw to buy. My budget is around $250, though I'm open to spending a bit more if it means getting a great tool. Also, I'm looking for an oscillating saw for about $100. Any recommendations?

If you're considering other options, don't overlook a table saw! It's really handy for cutting long pieces of flooring, as a miter saw can only handle crosscuts. A table saw will let you rip pieces as well as make miter cuts using the miter gauge. If you end up going that route, you can always grab a dedicated miter saw later on.
I bought a Dewalt 15 Amp 10-inch miter saw over a decade ago, and it's still holding up well. Just a tip: if you're working with laminate, make sure to use a laminate blade; it will save your regular blade from getting chewed up.
You can definitely score a decent miter saw for under $250! I highly recommend checking out the used market, especially places like Facebook Marketplace. Many folks buy a miter saw for just one project and then sell it after—so you might find one in great condition for cheap.
