Should I Keep My Batteries in the Garage in Hot Weather?

I've been seeing a lot of reports about batteries blowing up lately, and it's got me worried. I live in West Texas where summer temperatures soar above 100°F, and winters can drop to the high 20s. Is it safe to keep my batteries and chargers in the garage, or should I bring them inside? Thanks in advance for any advice!

It really comes down to how well you've treated your batteries. If they’ve been mishandled—like fully discharged and then jumped, or just treated roughly—they’re more at risk. Personally, I keep mine inside in an ammo can without the seal so they can breathe. I spend a lot on batteries, and I want to make sure they don’t get damaged by the elements.

Gotcha. I take care of my batteries too, but keeping them in the garage year-round has me worried now! Lol

Interesting! Why do you remove the seal though? I’d think it would help minimize fire risks.

Most posts about battery fires conveniently don't mention how the batteries were treated. If you keep them charged properly, don't overcharge or let them fully discharge, and store them in decent conditions, they shouldn’t pose a significant fire risk. Bumps and neglect are usually what lead to those scary incidents!

Thanks for clarifying that!
