Am I in Trouble After Rain on My New Pressure Treated Deck?

I just finished putting down my new pressure treated boards for my deck right before it rained for about an hour and a half. We got less than a quarter inch of rain according to my gauge. After the rain stopped, I wiped down the deck, and there hasn't been any more rain since. The deck isn't stained or sealed yet. How bad is it? What should I do next? Is it possible to stain it tomorrow if the rain holds off? I'm planning to use Olympic Maximum Semi-Transparent stain and sealant.

Don’t worry too much! That small amount of rain isn’t going to cause any permanent damage. It’s treated wood meant to withstand the elements, so you’re fine for now. Just give it time before staining!

You really shouldn’t do anything to pressure treated wood for at least 6 months. It needs time to dry out properly before you apply any stain. Trying to stain it too soon can lead to issues later on, such as peeling or bubbling.

6 months? Won't the wood warp or shrink if it’s left out getting wet and dry? How do I handle that?

Yeah, it’s true that treated wood isn’t fully dried out when you get it. You’re better off waiting 6 months to a year, especially if you live in a place with harsh winters. Staining too early could really mess it up.
