Installing a Dishwasher Where the Sink Used to Be

Hey everyone! I need some advice on installing a dishwasher in the spot where my old sink was. There are connections available for water and drainage; however, I'm not putting a sink back in. What's the best way to hook up the dishwasher to the drain without using the typical Y connector that would come from a sink or a food processor? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You can definitely connect the dishwasher drain hose directly to an open standpipe, but make sure to include a trap to avoid any gassy smells in your kitchen. It’s pretty similar to how washing machines are set up.

So just to clarify, should I install a standard sink p-trap and then hook the dishwasher drain hose to that, or is a Y connector necessary with the p-trap capped?
