What’s the Best Depth to Bury My Sump Pump Discharge Pipe?

I'm in the middle of installing a sump pump and I'm planning to run the discharge pipe across my gravel driveway, which is about 40 feet long. I'm wondering what depth I should bury the pipe to make sure it can handle the weight of cars driving over it. I'm using 1 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC for the job. Any tips?

Burying the pipe about 12 inches deep should be more than enough to protect it from vehicles driving over. Also, make sure to add a discharge screen at the outlet and a clean-out section too. It helps to prevent critters from crawling in and getting stuck!

Thanks for the tip! I’m currently about 4 inches deep using a pickaxe. I hadn’t thought about the discharge screen—great idea!
