I've been struggling with leveling a desk on an uneven floor and have tried four different spirit levels, finally settling on one from Amazon that seems decent. However, I've noticed that when I place it in the same spot and switch it around, it gives me different readings. How can I determine which side is more reliable? Should I trust the manufacturer markings that seem to align the front?

It sounds like your Amazon level might not be as accurate as you hoped! Spirit levels can be off, especially if they've been dropped or mishandled. A tip for better accuracy—always use the level with the spirit vial facing up. You can check the readings by rotating the level 180 degrees. Keep in mind, the bubble never sits perfectly on the line, so it’s more about getting it as close as possible. If your level has removable sides and you’ve dropped it, you might need to recalibrate the vial.
It's not uncommon for levels to read differently; that’s why it's good to check both sides! If your level has a middle spirit vial, that's typically the one to use as the reference point.
