Hey everyone! I have a bit of a quirky question about counting houseplants. I recently got asked how many plants I own, and I realized I might be seriously underestimating them. For instance, I bought two marble queens and split them into three pots, but I only count them as one plant. How do you all keep track of your plants? Do you count by the number of types, pots, or something else?

Honestly, I usually just don't keep count. It never seemed all that important to me. But I think if you're separating plants into different pots, you should count them as separate. So, while you can say you have one type, each distinct plant deserves recognition!
I’ve got around 100 plants and I usually count each species only once. But there are exceptions! I have two special Epipremnum aureums that I treat differently since they have a sentimental value. I find it easier to keep track this way, and it definitely keeps my collection organized!
I like to categorize mine based on two criteria—types and total numbers. If we're talking types, I've got around 90. But in total, I’m somewhere around 275 plants! It really depends on how deep you want to dive into the counting!

Wow, 275 is impressive! Do you have a favorite type you tend to collect more of?
