Will a 9cm potted lupin flower this year if I buy it now?

I'm considering buying a 9cm potted lupin from the summer sale, specifically one of the band of nobles varieties. Do you think it will still flower this year? Given the timing, should I just save the money and plan to get a plant next year or grow from seed instead? I appreciate any advice you can give!

It's pretty unlikely that the lupin will flower this year unless it has visible buds. Since it's already summer, there's not much time left. However, if you can get it at a good price, it could be a better option than starting from seed. Just keep in mind that many first-year flowering plants often need two years to bloom unless they’re in perfect conditions. It's worth considering for next year!

Exactly! If you can snag it cheap, it'll have a shot at flowering next year. Just remember to protect it from slugs and snails—they love lupins.
