I recently noticed a bunch of holes in the sheathing caused by the contractors during our siding replacement project. Some of the holes even go through to the interior drywall, which they claim they'll fix, but I'm confused about why there are so many holes in the sheathing under the house wrap. Is this acceptable?

It's common for mistakes to happen, like a swing-and-miss with a hammer; as long as it’s taped up properly, it might not be a huge issue. But if they’re creating multiple holes that reach into the drywall? You really should consider finding another crew if they don't fix it quickly!
No, that's definitely not acceptable! You should take photos and escalate this to a higher-up in the contractor's company. It’s ridiculous to have that many holes in your sheathing. You deserve better than that!
The contractor came by and explained that it’s actually black board—not sheathing—and some holes went into the interior drywall too. He assured me they’ll fix it, but I'm still worried since they already put up the wrap. I’ve taken lots of pictures to document everything.
Thanks for your response! The contractor was upset with his crew and they’re fixing everything now. We haven’t paid them yet; we only pay once the job is done, so I feel a bit better about it. They seem like a larger organization, which isn’t what we usually deal with, but fingers crossed it all works out!
