Hey everyone! I'm gardening in northwest Florida using large containers that function as raised beds. So far, no luck with my tomatoes – I planted eight plants without getting a single fruit, and I've had no squash or cucumbers either. I might have started a bit late. My plants are looking healthy, but I think the heat is affecting them. I started with fresh potting soil and added compost and earthworm castings, feeding them weekly with organic fertilizer. The only thing thriving seems to be my peppers. Should I start new seeds or plants for the fall, or is it worth keeping the current ones alive?

I live just outside Tallahassee and had a similar experience! I started my seeds indoors around mid-February and moved them outside at the end of March. My tomatoes and cucumbers are just now starting to ripen. When did you plant your stuff? It sounds like you might've planted a bit late, which can lead to poor harvests in the heat. If your plants are healthy, I’d recommend keeping them going for now! Maybe give them some afternoon shade if possible, and try hand pollinating your squash and cucumbers when the temperatures drop back into the 80s. That might help!

I'm in Pensacola and had issues too! I started seeds in mid-March but had a rain disaster right after planting them outside. They got stunted, and I'm considering a fall planting. What do you think?
