I'm searching for a hardy shrub that maintains its color throughout the year. I initially considered pyracantha, but I've heard the berries are toxic to dogs, and I want to avoid any risks. Any suggestions for colorful and dog-safe alternatives would be appreciated!

Check out the euonymus 'Marieke'! It's got yellow and green foliage that brightens up my Scottish garden even through winter. Super low maintenance, too!
How about dogwood? It adds color through its branches in the winter, which is pretty neat. Plus, it attracts wildlife. Just keep an eye on it; it can spread out quite a bit over time!
A variegated hebe could be a great choice! It’s colorful and hardy, plus it looks good all year.

True, but dogwood can take over your garden if you're not careful. I've seen it grow like crazy. Just a heads up!
