I recently planted six tomato plants with my partner just two days ago, and we put crushed eggshells in the planting holes. However, this morning, I found that all but one of the plants had been dug up! The plants themselves are unharmed, but I'm really worried about what could have caused this. Could it be the eggshells? We live in Midwest Ohio, so any advice would be super helpful!

It sounds like some critters may be digging around! Raccoons are often the culprits, especially if they were attracted by the smell of the eggshells. Also, squirrels could be responsible—they tend to uproot newly planted flowers and veggies to stash their food. Have you seen any signs of disturbance like scattered shells? That might give you a clue!

Yeah, raccoons are super curious! If you're noticing stuff displaced, that's a big hint. Maybe try some deterrents like mothballs around the area!
