How to Properly Cover a Bare Romex Cable in My Garage?

I'm in the process of finishing my garage and I've come across a problem: there's a bare Romex cable running into the wall. I'm converting the garage into a studio space, and I'm wondering what the best way to fix or cover this is. Since I currently can't afford an electrician, any suggestions on DIY remedies would be greatly appreciated! Here's a link to the picture: [https://imgur.com/rz1KMQ4](https://imgur.com/rz1KMQ4).

That setup is technically illegal since it's not properly protected. One quick temporary solution is to cover the wire with raceway to provide some protection, but you should really consider a permanent fix. I’d recommend opening up the junction box, removing the Romex, and running it through conduit instead. You might need to dig through the wall a bit if you're accessing from the other side.

Why is this setup illegal, though? I thought it was fine as long as no one was touching the bare wire.

The bare wire is exposed to potential damage and could be a safety hazard. It's really best to have it protected inside conduits.

The best way to handle that is to run the Romex cable in conduit. It's generally a straightforward fix, just make sure to check exactly where the wire is going. It's really important for safety, especially in a studio space.
