I'm on the lookout for some plants to brighten up my front door. They will be in pots and will receive sunlight for most of the day. Ideally, I'm hoping to find something colorful that stays looking nice throughout the whole year. I live in the Midlands in the UK, so any suggestions would really help. Thank you in advance!

Keep in mind the water situation! If your pot is under a gutter, go for drought-tolerant plants even in winter. Something like hardy fuchsia might work, but for all-year interest, you're better off switching seasonal plants. Geraniums in the summer and pansies for winter could give you a colorful display throughout the year.
You might want to consider evergreen plants like jasmine or rosemary. They can stay vibrant throughout the year and are relatively easy to care for! Plus, rosemary has that lovely fragrance, which can be a bonus at your entryway!
Finding a plant that stays colorful all year can be tough! A good option is to mix an evergreen with a climber that flowers seasonally. For example, you could plant a sturdy evergreen like mock orange and then have a sweet pea climbing around it for summer blooms. Just make sure your pot is large enough—small pots can dry out quickly!
