I'm looking for a cheap way to create some shade in my backyard since my porch gets super hot by noon. I can't build anything permanent right now, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried temporary solutions that actually look decent and hold up well. I've considered using sail cloth, but I'm not sure how well it stands up to wind. Any ideas?

I recommend getting a pop-up canopy! They're super easy to set up and take down, and you can use them whenever you need shade. I have a 10x10 from Walmart that I can put up by myself in about 30 seconds. Just put it away when you're done using it!
I've had shade sails in my backyard for about 4-5 years now, and they're pretty sturdy against most weather, except for snow. Just make sure to take them down in winter; it helps prevent damage to the sails and whatever you have them attached to. As long as they're installed securely, wind shouldn't be a problem!
