Hey everyone! I'm moving into a new place, and I've got a shower with a small window that gets a lot of indirect sunlight throughout the day, plus a bit of direct sunlight in the afternoon for an hour or two. I'm really excited about adding some plants to my shower and bathroom, but I want to make sure I'm choosing ones that will thrive in high humidity and low to indirect light. I have a few plants already, and if they're not suitable, I'd love some recommendations! Here's what I currently have:
1. 4 golden pothos (planning to propagate more soon)
2. 1 snake plant (might propagate it too)
3. 2 rubber plants (one variegated green+white, the other dark green+red/purple)
4. 1 monstera
5. 1 dumb cane (yes, that's the name!)
6. 2 heartleaf philodendrons (a grey one and a variegated one)
7. 2 arrowroots
8. 1 corn plant
9. 1 string of pearls (just starting to propagate, only about 3 inches long)
10. 1 venus flytrap
11. 1 lucky bamboo (actually 3 in one vase)
12. 1 aloe vera
13. 1 very young jasmine plant
Previously, my plants thrived in a large window with plenty of direct sunlight for 4-5 hours every morning, followed by bright indirect light. I'm concerned about the change, but I'm hopeful they'll adjust. I'd like to avoid investing in too many grow lights if I can help it, but I'm open to bulb-shaped options for regular light fixtures. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

You should definitely consider maranta, also known as the prayer plant! They love humidity and would do great in your shower. Golden pothos and monstera are also excellent choices for that environment. Both are hardy and can thrive in lower light conditions. Those heartleaf philodendrons would also work well, especially since they're quite adaptable!
Just a heads-up, it's important to gauge the actual light in your shower. Sometimes what we think is indirect light is just low light for plants. I'd suggest getting a light meter app to check it out. Also, keep in mind that venus flytraps need full sun, so they won’t survive in low light. It might be best to move them outdoors or somewhere brighter once you’re settled in!
Oh! Okay yeah I’ll see if I can measure the amount of light in there. And maybe if I can replace the ceiling light with a grow bulb that would be better too… though many lights in this apartment are built into the ceiling and can’t actually be replaced 🙁
Yeah, I found out flytraps need a lot of sun! I have it currently in direct sunlight with a full-spectrum grow light right above it. Once I finish moving, I’ll put it outside or in a brighter spot indoors.

Omg marantas are so pretty! I’ll look into where I can get one!! And thank you! Good to know, they are still very small right now, easier to place in the bathroom somewhere :))
