Help! Need Advice on Fitting a New Double Wall Oven

I'm a total beginner in home improvement and I'm facing a bit of a problem. I need to replace my broken 30-inch double wall oven, so I bought a GE model without checking the cutout dimensions first, which was a mistake. The installers came out, but they wouldn't install it because the cutout measurements aren't correct. Should I attempt to modify the cutout myself or should I hire a professional for this? If I do it myself, what tools would I need?

First things first, check the dimensions of your oven opening. That’s key! If you’ve already figured that out and you’re only short by an inch in width and a couple of inches in depth, you might be able to do the adjustments yourself. It could save you some cash, but it’s important to use the right tools—like a drywall saw for cutting and maybe a level to ensure everything’s even. Just be careful with any electrical or gas lines if those are nearby!

Yeah, definitely make sure to take all safety precautions! Also, if you're not comfortable cutting into the wall, it might be worth getting a pro to handle it.

Hiring a professional could be a good idea, especially since you mentioned you’re a beginner. They’ll know exactly how to handle the dimensions and ensure it’s installed correctly. If you decide to go the DIY route, make sure to have a measuring tape, a saw, and possibly some wood shims to help with alignment. Good luck!
