Am I Being Too Critical About My New Siding Installation?

I recently got new siding installed on my townhome by Ameritech Construction, and it cost around $22,000. I'm holding off on signing the completion paperwork because I've noticed several issues like missing foam padding around windows, a messy caulk job, a crooked shutter, uneven window trim, and bad corner joints. When I raised my concerns with the manager, he told me that I shouldn't expect perfection and that some compromises are necessary. Given the amount I spent, I feel I should expect top-notch work. Am I being too picky about these problems?

It's tough because opinions can vary quite a bit. Some folks might say it’s not that bad, but if you feel dissatisfied, that's what counts. If you hadn’t mentioned the price, I bet people would have been softer on their critiques. Just hang in there and insist on a fix that meets your expectations—you've got every right to demand it!

Yeah, if you weren’t upfront about the cost, people might have given a more relaxed answer.

Here's hoping they make it right! You deserve a great finish for your investment.

Honestly, the caulking looks really sloppy. You have a right to be disappointed—just because a company claims to be premium doesn’t mean they deliver. If parts of the installation are wrong, they should fix it properly. If the shutter is wonky, that should be an easy fix. And I agree, cutting trim is a good way to improve the look. Just be persistent—they need to meet your expectations after what you spent!

Exactly! I wouldn't settle for less; you're paying for quality.

Great advice. Make sure to document everything they promise to fix!

From what you've described, it definitely sounds like they cut some corners. Siding can be a big investment, and it's understandable to expect a high standard, especially from a premium company. I recently got my 1,300 sq ft home sided for much less and was happy with the quality, so I get why you're frustrated. Don't hesitate to hold them to their promises—it's your home after all!

It's wild that you got it done for less! I guess prices really vary by location.

Keep pressuring them until you get the quality you're paying for; you deserve it!
