Thinking About DIY Lifeproof LVP Flooring: Pros and Cons?

Hey everyone! I'm considering installing Lifeproof LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring in five rooms of my house, but it's my first time tackling a project like this. What are some pros and cons I should be aware of, especially from a DIY perspective? Any tips for making the process smoother would also be appreciated!

A good tip is to start with a rubber mallet; it makes all the difference, especially for aligning planks. After your first cut, trim your plank to a smaller size to tap the pieces together more easily. When laying the first row, consider drilling a few holes and nailing it down for stability—it really helps keep everything aligned. I've been watching a bunch of DIY videos too; they’re super helpful!

That's a smart move! Thanks for the advice on securing the first row!

I used the Pittsburgh 1-1/2 lb. soft face mallet from Harbor Freight, and it worked great without chipping!

One big pro is that you'll save a ton of cash by doing it yourself! Plus, it's not overly complicated, so you can really get the hang of it. Just a heads up though, even with knee pads, it can really take a toll on your body—my back was sore for days after my first go at it! Definitely invest in a tapping block and some shims or spacers to help with your setup. Remember: the brand isn't everything; focus on the thickness of the wear layer—18 mil or more is solid!

What about wear thickness? The one I'm eyeing is 22 mil—think that's good for kids and a dog?

Right? Make sure to budget for some chiropractor visits afterward! ?
