Should I Keep the Carpet in My Bedrooms or Switch to Hardwood Floors?

I just bought a house with four bedrooms, all of which have brand new carpet. I'm debating whether I should keep the carpet or replace it with hardwood flooring to match the rest of the house, especially since the bedrooms are on the second level. What do you think?

At the end of the day, it's your house, so it’s really about what you prefer. If you're leaning towards hardwood, it's definitely easier to do before moving in. Just weigh how important that change is to you right now.

I’m stuck in the same dilemma! I want hardwood but keep thinking the new carpet would be wasted if I change it too soon.

I’ve always found carpets in bedrooms to be more comfortable, especially when you get out of bed. Plus, they help reduce noise, which is great if you have people walking upstairs. Just something to think about!

Good point! It's nice to have that soft landing when you get up in the morning and the noise reduction is a bonus.

We ripped out all the carpets in our place and refinished the wood floors, and it turned out great. My friend replaced her carpets with tile. You have plenty of options, so just go with what feels right for you!

Honestly, it comes down to preference. I'm a carpet lover, especially in bedrooms. It adds that cozy vibe, while wood is more suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.

Are you sure there isn't hardwood under the carpet? If there is, just keep in mind it might need refinishing, which can be costly. My advice is to enjoy the new carpet for a bit; it tends to show wear after a few years anyway, so you could plan for hardwood later on.
